1. Claydon House was the home of Lady Parthenope and Sir Harry Verney, Miss Nightingale's sister and brother-in-law. She made an annual visit to Claydon for many years and continued this after Lady Verney died in 1895. Miss Nightingale and Sir Harry Verney, at one time a Member of Parliament, were good friends and he entered much legislation on her behalf.
