"Daniel Leclerc was a Swiss; a biographical notice is only inserted in the present volume, because his main work was widely spread in Holland. He made his medical studies at Montpellier and Paris, and took his degree at Valence. He settled in Geneva, and devoted his spare time, left from a large practice, to scientific works. He is still known because of his main work Histoire de la Medicine etc., which first appeared in Switzerland, and subsequently three times in Holland. It deals with the history of medicine with Galen inclusive" (Dutch Medical Biography).
