Borel, Pierre (c.1620-1671).

Historiarum et Observationum Medico-physicarum Centuria IV

Francofurti, apud Laur. Sigismund. Corner um, Bibliopolam Lipfienfen, 1670.

"Borel is credited with the first description of brain concussions. Among his original contributions to medicine are the statements that cataract is a darkening of the crystalline lens and the recommendation of the use of concave mirrors in diagnostic examination of nose and throat" (The Galileo Project).

Borel was a physician to the Court of France and was much interested in the microscope. He wrote the history of the invention of the microscope in 1655. In 1656 he described 100 observations made with the microscope. The original edition of this book, Historiarum, was published in 1653.
